PSY Breaks 50 Million YouTube Views with “Gentleman” Video in Less Than 48 Hours

Voices that declared PSY a one-hit wonder seem to have less and less ground these days. Why? Just have a look at the numbers his new video “Gentleman” is pushing. The dance video, which serves as the follow up to the South Korean singer’s global hit “Gangnam Style,” was only posted on YouTube at 9:00 pm (1200 GMT) on Saturday and already counts more than 50 million views on YouTube by Monday. Thus, it re-writes the video-sharing site’s records for single-day hits. In the first 24 hours, it received around 20 million hits, surpassing the previous record for single-day views of 8.0 million, set by Justin Bieber‘s “Boyfriend” video. The video captures PSY wearing his signature sunglasses, dancing at various locations in and around Seoul including a high-end clothing store, restaurant, library and a swimming pool. Your typical K-pop frenzy. Good times guaranteed.
